Week 24 - Keeping Busy

5:13 PM Posted by Janette No comments
So this week has been awesome! It is hard here just because the area is mostly white area and they are set in their ways. That and they all work, so that means that during the morning till about 4 there is nobody home, which makes missionary work here harder than most other areas. We do our best to keep busy and have fun at the same time.

This past week, we met with a guy named Fire and his family and it was just one of the best lessons that I have ever had! He was so ready for the gospel and for the spirit in his life. The best way that I could describe his is as a spiritual nomad. The spirit was so strong there and he learned a lot. He knows the bible and everything was just clicking for him. We had hoped that he would come to church on Sunday, but they didn't come.

Another cool experience this week is a time when one of our appointments dropped. We decided that we would go tracting and see where that took us. We knocked on a few doors, and got either no answer or a door in our face. Then we decided to do one more and as we knocked on the door, a lady came up from the street. It turns out that she lived there and then invited us in and we shared with her the restoration and the Book of Mormon. It was so amazing and was prepared for our visit. We have appointments with both of them this week, so we will see how that turns out.

In response to a few questions that I got, (I know you have both talked about going to the "cyber" or an internet cafe to email.  Do people have internet in their homes?  Computers?  Cell phones?  Electricity?), Yes, everybody has electricity. Everybody (even the little kids) have cell phones. Most have computers or know somebody that will let them use theirs. The only problem here in SA is that people want the technology, but the infrastructure is not in place like back home, so a lot of times, cell phones will be on and off.

And for the awesome news for the week, we just recently had zone conference with Elder Cook (of the 70) and in two weeks we will get to have a mission meeting with a member of the Quorum of the Twelve and then the next day, the presiding bishop is going to be here in PE! Talk about General Authority haven here in SA! It is going to be so awesome and I'm looking forward to it.

Till Next Week
